Foreign women rescued from the current in Patong

Have jet ski operators and lifeguards rescued three foreign women from a rip current patong beach on Friday night. The women were seen in the water and called for help.

Luckily, some jet ski operators and lifeguards were still on the beach at the time, and the women were safely brought back to shore on a jet ski.

The Patong Surf Life Saving Education Center detailed the incident in a Facebook post. Little did the women know, according to the post, that it’s highly recommended not to swim after dark and that lifeguards are not on duty. But luckily there were still a few lifeguards on the beach, hanging out alongside the jet ski operators off-duty.

Now the center has demanded that Patong Beach be patrolled 24 hours a day.

This news comes after several drowning incidents in Phuket earlier this year. In July, a Vietnamese and her daughter drowned at Naithon Beach in Thalang District. In the same month, a Thai doctor and a British tourist both drowned on Kata Beach when the doctor tried to save the tourist.

Luckily, the three foreign ladies on Patong Beach were safely rescued and did not meet the same fate. All three women were reportedly grateful to their rescuers for helping them in their time of need.
