The coming 23approx 2nd edition of the Nordic Film Market invites a total of 30 new feature film projects – 18 in post-production, eight in Discovery and four in Nordic Talents – and presents them to market participants in a hybrid format. The leading business and meeting point for the Scandinavian and international film industry will take place from February 3rd to 6th during the 45thth Gothenburg Film Festival (28 January to 6 February). Nordic Film Market will be back on location in Gothenburg with selected content available online.

scheda film]) adapts Alex Schulman‘s best-selling semi-autobiographical book Burn all my letters, which revolves around a secret and passionate love affair (see news). Four debut projects from Sweden will be presented: Lebanese filmmaker Abbe Hassan‘S Exodus is a warm story of survival and friendship (see news); Isabella Carbonell imagines a grim history of human trafficking dog born; Ahmed Abdullahi follows a former MMA fighter as she struggles to return to her passion Amina; and documentary filmmaker Johanna Bernhardson follows in her uncle Roy Andersson and his three siblings The Andersson brothers.
Denmark is also rocking with five projects. These include kiss, the latest period drama directed by Bill August, set in Denmark in 1913. unruly is the second feature of Malou Reyman (A perfectly normal family [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), a historical drama inspired by the infamous events that took place in Sprogø between 1923 and 1961 (see News). Among the three first-time feature filmmakers from Denmark is documentary filmmaker Helmer Malene Choi (The return [+leggi anche:

scheda film]) With The silent migration, a coming-of-age story about two teenagers who face racism in their adoptive families; an adaptation of Christian Lolike‘s game The Cake Dynasty, which centers on a cake factory on the brink of bankruptcy (see news); and The great silence through Katrine Rocks, which follows 29-year-old Alma, who lives in a contemporary Catholic convent as she prepares to take her final vows as a nun.
Five projects also come from Norway. Below are night through Mona J Hoel (Are you already going? [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), which centers on a neurologist who has been diagnosed with advanced lymph node cancer and whose doctor predicts she has a maximum of two months to live; the Norwegian-Belgian animated film Titina through Kajsa Naess, exploring the conquest of the North Pole (listen to our podcast); the Norwegian-Polish project Norwegian dream by the award-winning helmer Leiv Igor Devold (The random rock star), a coming-of-age romantic drama in which Robert, a Polish immigrant working in a fish factory in Norway, struggles with his feelings for his Norwegian colleague Ivar; Storm through Erika Kalmeyer, which focuses on the unconditional love between a mother and her daughter; and war sailor through Gunnar Vikene, set during World War II and inspired by true events, sees two Norwegian men trying to survive at sea while the fate of their loved ones at home is just as uncertain.

scheda film]), who follows a former Miss Finland beauty queen through a series of kidnappings, robberies and other misadventures; and siblings through Saara Cantel, which was shot over the course of seven years with an emergency crew and combines both script and documentary elements. The selection is rounded off by a project from Iceland, Road trip with mom through Hilmar Oddsson, which revolves around a man whose mother dies. He then has to take her body across Iceland to its final resting place in her hometown.
In the Discovery section, eight film projects currently in development are presented, mostly by film beginners. Among other things, we find works by John Skog (ridge [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), Hanna Högstedt (Burqa Songs 2.0), Sweden Jonathan Etzler, Norwegian filmmaker and visual artist Gunhild Enger, Denmark’s Andrias Hogenni, and Finnish filmmaker Lauri Matti Parppei.
Finally, the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, in cooperation with the Gothenburg Film Festival, will present specially selected Nordic Talents projects, with four films selected. In 2022, the fund will place a special focus on the twenty-something generation.
