Obituary of Edward Roback (2022) – Ashley, PA
Edward Roback of Ashley passed away unexpectedly on Friday 21st January 2022 at home.
Born in Kingston on July 19, 1947 to the late Edward and Rosemarie Roback, he was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School, class of 1965. He was a member of the US Air Force. He served in Vietnam and was stationed in Thailand from 1966 to 1970 when he was honorably discharged. He spent most of his career as a mailman for the United States Postal Service. After retirement, he worked at the Wilkes-Barre Area Career & Technical Center as a teaching assistant until his death.
He was a loving husband, married to the love of his life, Sandra George Roback, who passed away on November 3, 2021. He was a devoted father and proud grandfather, affectionately known as “Pop”. He enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing his love of Volkswagen Beetles, shopping at property sales, reading about current events and history, and attending various events for his eight grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Edward (Angie) Roback, Pringle; Jeffrey (Alicia) Roback, Shavertown; Jami (Tim) Simcox, Nanticoke; Michael (Elizabeth) Roback, Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren, David, Edward (EJ), Olivia, Isabella, Ryan, Abbey, Skylar and Felicity; Siblings, Dee (Joe) Cordora, Swoyersville; Michele (Rob) Orlandini, Exeter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Roback, Wilkes-Barre.
At Ed’s request, there are no office hours.
A memorial service honoring both Ed and Sandy will be held at the 11 am June 26th Mass at St. Leo’s Holy Rosary Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley.
If desired, family and friends can make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
