Phuket attracts technology companies
PHUKET: Asia Sponsorship News Co Ltd (ASNCL), now an independent subsidiary of Paul Poole (South East Asia) Co Ltd (“PP(SEA)CL”), will close its Singapore office and relocate to Phuket to highlight more technology companies who move to the island.
Asia Sponsorship News is closing its Singapore office and opening as a Thailand-based subsidiary at Royal Phuket Marina.
PP(SEA)CL is an independent Bangkok-based marketing consultancy specializing in commercial sponsorship and partnership marketing, working with both rightsholders and brands – acting as a catalyst, bringing them together and maximizing the relationship.
“We have sourced, sold and managed sponsorship and partnership opportunities for a wide range of rights owners and have worked with many of the world’s leading brands to find and engage the right sponsorships and partnerships to maximize them,” said Founder and CEO Paul poole .
ASN has been instrumental in the continued success of the sponsorship industry in Asia through its unrivaled record of over 250,000 commercial sponsorship and partnership marketing deals in Asia, which has enabled sponsorship professionals to act faster and more efficiently in an environment of greater transparency act, said Mr Poole explained in a press release.
“Founded in Singapore in 2007 by Ben Heyhoe Flint, ASN operates on a subscription-based model, giving subscribers access to the latest news, analysis and insights from the biggest players in the sponsorship industry. Over the years, ASN has worked with the leading names in sports, media and entertainment on the buy, agency and sell side,” added Mr. Poole.
A new Thai company, Asia Sponsorship News Co Ltd (ASNCL) is established at Royal Phuket Marina to operate ASN under the aegis of PP(SEA)CL. ASNCL as a subsidiary of PP(SEA)CL is managed completely independently.
“We are very excited to start this new chapter owned by PP(SEA)CL. Paul Poole has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to the sponsorship industry and we could not have found a better way forward,” said ASN Founder Mr. Flint, who will remain as an advisor.
James Hamshire, ASN’s Business Development Director, will remain and be promoted to Managing Director, adding: “This acquisition comes at a time when the sponsorship industry is rebounding in Asia following the pandemic. We are confident in ASN’s continued success as a fully independent provider of information to the sports, media and entertainment industries in Asia.”
“ASN has been a monumental force in the sponsorship industry in Asia over the past 15 years and has given us all invaluable insights into this space. We are committed to continuing this important work and remaining a key player in an ever-changing industry,” noted Mr. Poole.
The new office at Royal Phuket Marina is currently being set up and is scheduled to open on October 1, joining Booking.com, which has also opened offices at the world-class marina.
“The top 10 sponsorship spend in Thailand historically accounts for nearly 30% of total sponsorship investment in the Southeast Asian sponsorship market,” noted Mr. Poole.
Recognizing the growing trend of “digital nomads” working remotely, Mr Poole nonetheless stressed: “Phuket is emerging as a haven for tech companies seeking a combination of nature and urban culture – particularly the Royal Phuket Marina on the east coast the island it was is attracting high profile companies lately.”
Famed for its state-of-the-art marina, Royal Phuket Marina is a premier lifestyle destination that combines luxurious waterfront living and attractive commercial properties, he added.
The only marina on Phuket to have received the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor award, it is also a pioneer in sustainability, using the latest solar technology to power its operations. Next to the marina, it has restaurants, bars and an exhibition and conference hall with 2,000 square meters of indoor exhibition and conference space and 1,000 square meters of outdoor event space, making it a perfect venue for MICE events.
“Phuket offers the perfect combination of a first-class lifestyle destination, breathtaking nature and great infrastructure. With dozens of flights connecting the island daily with nearby metropolitan areas such as Bangkok and Singapore, it is an attractive home for companies operating in the region,” added Mr Poole.
Gulu Lalvani, Chairman of Royal Phuket Marina, welcomed the move. “We are delighted that so many reputable companies choose Royal Phuket Marina as their home base. We strive to be an active player in promoting the best that Phuket has to offer, be it world-class yachting, MICE or business opportunities,” he said.
