Reducing the curfew, easing other restrictions on the CCSA agenda today

The government’s Covid-19 Task Force is meeting today to further ease restrictions ahead of the country’s scheduled reopening on 1st the number of provinces in different color zones.

Proposals to be discussed include reducing maximum control, “dark red” provinces to 24, “red” provinces to 29, and “orange” provinces to 24. Officials will also discuss shortening the curfew, which, if approved, may be change from Saturday to the end of October from 10:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.

The big issue on the table is the proposed resumption of international tourism without quarantine from November 1st. In a televised address Monday evening, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha said fully vaccinated visitors from 10 “low risk” countries could be admitted enter Thailand without quarantine from 1.11.

Foreign arrivals would have to be tested negative for Covid-19 before leaving their home country and again upon arrival in Thailand. He added that the ban on selling alcohol in restaurants could be lifted from December 1, along with bars and nightclubs that are allowed to reopen.

TAT has already released its list of countries that it hopes the Thai government will allow non-quarantine returns from November 1st. USA, UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, France, Russia, China, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Malaysia and Italy. But these countries are NOT yet CONFIRMED by the CCSA.

The CCSA is also asked to consider resuming meetings and cultural events in conference centers and exhibition halls and similar locations in hotels and department stores. If approved, the number of participants would be limited due to the province’s color coding.
