PHUKET, June 28, 2021: Only a few days left until the start of the Phuket Sandbox, travelers can look forward to booking water sports and even surfing off the pristine beaches of Thailand’s largest island.

With its lush inland forests, picturesque bays and, of course, gorgeous soft white sandy beaches, Phuket will once again be attracting visitors from all over the world from July 1st. While the island is more popular during the dry season from November to April, it has also gained popularity in recent years as a surfing destination in the off-season (monsoons).

The best surfing conditions are from May to October, which is also the low season in Phuket due to heavy rainfall and rough waves. Now that recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic begins, fully vaccinated early bird travelers can enjoy water sports on quiet beaches along Phuket’s west coast without the need for a 14-day quarantine on a hotel room.

There are plenty of beaches for a fun surfing experience, but Kata Beach is considered one of the best on the island, with waves that are suitable for both novice and intermediate surfers. You can also check out some of the surf competitions held annually during this time, where local and international surfers ride the waves. If you’re lucky, you might even spot one of the Thai surfers training!
