NEW DELHI: India’s most popular neighboring holiday destination Thailand has finally reopened for Desi travelers. The Southeast Asian tourist magnet has allowed fully vaccinated visitors from 78 countries, including India, as part of its “sandbox” programs, which list conditions for travelers.
The Serum Institute of India (Covishield) is on the list of accepted vaccines, which include Pfizer and Moderna, among others. Indian travelers can participate under the Phuket Sand Box and Samui Plus programs, a senior Thai tourism official said. While no quarantine is required for Phuket, conditions apply to Samui Plus (see attached graphics).

The Royal Thai Embassy listed the requirement under the Phuket Sandbox in an SM post on Wednesday. “Thai and non-Thai nationals can now travel from India to Thailand via Phuket Sandbox. (You) must have completed the vaccination at least 14 days (before departure). A valid visa (if required).
Health insurance that covers Covid-19 at least $ 100,000. SHA + hotel reservation. Covid-19 test package. RT-PCR test result within 72 hours prior to flight. Certificate of Entry (COE) ”, it says in the embassy’s Facebook post. CoE must be requested at http://coethailand.mfa.go.th.

SHA is the certification of the Thai Safety and Health Authority (https://www.thailandsha.com/info). “SHA is about property or products. SHA + (is) about vaccinating staff, ”said the Thai tourism official.
The requirements for joining “Samui Plus” include: “Thai and non-Thai nationals can now travel from India to Thailand via Samui Plus. (You) must complete the vaccination for at least 14 days.
