The Asia Long Drive Championship 2022 can start in September in Thailand
(ProNewsReport Editorial): — PHUKET, Thailand, July 8, 2022 (Issuewire.com) — The Asia Long Drive Association announced the 2022 Asia Long Drive Championship to be held September 14-16, 2022 at the Laguna Golf Resort in Phuket, Thailand, will be the first in a series of long drive events to take place on Asian soil. The championship is open to players from all Asian countries, as well as participants from Australia and New Zealand.
Players compete in three categories: Open, Women’s and Master’s Divisions. However, in order to compete for the title, competitors must meet clearly defined criteria for each category: the minimum length to qualify is 280 yards for the Open Division, 240 yards for Ladies, and 260 yards for Masters.
As for the schedule, the qualifying rounds on the 16th and 17th are scheduled to run all day from 9am to 5pm. Competitors play a preliminary round divided into two groups with 16 players in each group. You get six balls in 150 seconds. Five sets are played in a round-robin style, with the top eight players advancing to the finals.
The longest hitter in each category takes home the title of champion, direct entry to the 2022 PLDA World Championship and a share of the prize money. The total prize money of the Asia Long Drive Championship 2022 is 80,000 USD.
The Asia Long Drive Association will broadcast the finals live from start to finish. The game will be live streamed via ALDA’s official Facebook, Youtube, TikTok and other social media channels. So be sure to tune in. If you miss the live game, there will be a series of TV channels across Asia, ALDA highlights show the championship.
As the governing body for endurance sports in Asia, ALDA aims to increase the number of endurance races across the continent and provide opportunities for all categories – men and women, youth and seniors – to play the game and have fun at the same time. Asian long-distance drivers qualified for the annual World Championship when ALDA signed a partnership agreement with the Professional Long Drivers Association (PLDA) last month.
